You can find weapons and clothes during the game, that you can equip to your magician. You can see your inventory, if you push the "Items" button in the menu bar.
The stats of most items are random, but there are rare set items, which are giving extra bonuses, if you wear all parts at the same time.
Every item has a level between 1 and 21, that affects on the quality of the data.

Sets
There are proper sets for light and shadow. A special type of set are the league item sets. These are always given to places 1 to 3 of each league winners, and have the same stats whether light or shadow.
You'll find lists of the known sets and their stats here:
Item effects
The following chart shows, which attributes an item can have.
Hint: The production bonuses of several items are calculated separately. The bonuses are always rounded up, so the actually bonus income is higher than it'll be, if you calculate the bonus altogether (shown in the box on the right side of the inventory.
Example: Your tree of life produces 45 mana per tick. Your shoes give a bonus of 1.5% on mana, your necklace 0.6%, and your vest 2.3%. In the box will be shown "+4.4% mana", which would be +2 mana per tick. But actually they count separately, so it's 1.5% of 45 for the shoes (+1), 0.6% of 45 for the necklace (+1), and 2.3% of 45 for the vest (+2), which would be a total increase of +4 mana per tick.

Sentinels
Every group of sentinels level 2 or above drop with a small chance an item. Stronger sentinels have an higher drop rate.
Hint: You should mind to have a connected 3x3 field in your inventory free for the biggest item, a vest, before you're going into a fight. Otherwise new items will be destroyed immediately.
Awards
When the leagues are rearranged, the 3 best of each league will become a league set item. This league set items can only be received by being under the first 3 places of each league, or later in the bazaar.
Equipping with items
To equip your mage with an item, you must fulfill it's requirements, which are mentioned in the item description. Often it's a requirement, that your mage has to learn a skill up to a level. So it could be wise not to spend all skill points after the meditation, but to wait and see, what requirements the items you'll find have.
An item has to be activated after you equipped it, before it's bonuses will work. Therefore you must pay a rune, or an hour production mana of your main palace.
Item destruction
To destroy an item, you must pull it in the whirlpool in your inventory. The destroyed item is irrecoverable lost.
