Dwarf World Tribune Evening Edition 9-13-10

With world reset nearly here, many a magi are getting their best heroes ready to battle for the artifacts. Some send their swiftest, while others rely upon brute force and location. The greedy Sentinels try to keep these precious stones for themselves. Luckily, the sentinels who rely upon these stones are young and inexperienced. With the many mages out to get these stones, the stronger, larger sentinels have learned to amass forces rather than attain such items. We shall all be doomed if in the future the Death Angels and the Snake Neck Dragons decide to horde these items for themselves. In this stressful time, take a load off your mind and read a few short stories from some of our talented Mages here.

Prelude

She sat on a bench tossing flower petals into the great silver lake. Middle daughter of the all-father her favorite that he called her was Immortelle. She had blond hair and blue eyes and a great warrior in her own right. Immortelle was waiting for her secret love the great general Morning Star to come from his meeting with the lords of light. There had been great thunder in the skies the previous nights with the angels of light fighting against the shadow lords. Great losses had been given to both sides but the victory of light over shadow had been achieved at great cost as many of her brothers and sisters had fallen. She had been held in reserve to defend the golden gate if the shadow lords got past the outer rings of defense.

Last night when he held her in his arms he told her that "because of yesterday's victory he was to ask for her hand in marriage." But the battle was now over and cries over the lost echoed throughout the city. She anxiously awaited her lover's return as there was great debate raging in the halls. "Too many were lost" were the cries...we do not fight that way not with them....we will not honor what has been promised as you did not have the authority"

Tactics and agreements had been used and promised by The Morning Star that were against the covenant of light in the prior day's battle. Great forces of nature and chaos and time& space had been called in to fight at their side and now were expecting the promised treaties for their aid.

She picked another flower and continued tossing the petals into the lake. A loud clarion call was heard. A Thunderclap, Imortelle stood straight up with a worried look on her face the all- fathers voice was then heard "No" echoed from the high kingdom to the middle realms.

She looked and saw the Morning Star racing to her. He stopped before her all bloodied and torn. He "Immortelle, we must leave now. The lords of light have cast aside the agreements and charters I had drawn up and are now hunting me as I am bound through my soul to the agreements I have made. They will not have me here and wish me dead or imprisoned for those agreements have also brought into me. We cannot wait but must escape to the lower kingdom of Xhodon and take up life together there." A distant clatter and jingling of armor was heard from along the lake.

"Immortelle distance yourself from that traitor to light" shouted The Lord Mjoollnir. Mjoollnir was one of the great battle lords of light as well as Immortelle's 1/2 brother. He drew himself up and blew his horn to draw in the other hunters. "Brother" Imortelle shouted "you know this to be wrong!" "Wrong or right little sister the all father has so ordered it and his word is law. So stand aside" Said Mjoollnir.

Immortelle put herself between the 2 great warriors and said to her love "go I will give you time and then meet you on Xhodon" But Morning Star had passed out from his injuries. To Mjoollnir she said "brother you are not fully rested from yesterday's great battle I will be able to hold you for a spell. Go back and tell father that we are no longer here." With that she drew from the high realm her powers and cast a binding bolt at Mjoollnir to hold him, for to hurt her brother was at that time impossible.

Seeing Mjoollnir held by her spell and Heropolis in the distance she picked up the injured Morning Star and carried him to her chariot and opened a portal and rode through it to the middle realm of Xhodon.

No Door Closes Unless Another Opens XII

After what seemed an eternity Hybrid came onto his village. There was little doubt that the events of most recent had been a bit surreal to say the least. A smile played across his face as he re-lived those moments. Fairly deep within that reality, he almost did not take notice to the uncanny silence about him. At this hour medicine men were usually at their best, the Shaman would be present and other miscellaneous activities were enlivers to the village as a whole. Something amiss had found purchase upon his homestead. Upon this realization he felt a certain pang within that had almost brought him to his knees. Hybrid raced to his hut only to find it empty, as were all the others. Confusion set in and the youth set out in the direction of the Grand Elder's hut. Never before had so many thoughts flood his mind in so little time. Then as he came about his destination he found a urgent sense of relief. His people had all gathered here. The reason being meant very little to Hybrid, for at this moment and time all that mattered was the fact that he was not alone. His arrival fell on deaf ears and blind eyes. The mass seemed enthralled as they ogled the figure upon the ground, writhing in pain and discomfort. The youth came to stand at his father's side, whereas his father volunteered what little information he had at hand. He relayed to the youth that these were indeed strange times. A terrible calamity and an ancient evil had found their village. He walked his son to the edge of the home front. Once there he handed Hybrid a few resources and a vial of which the contents seemed to had pulsated with a life of its own. The very day the disease known as Tzaraath found a home within the village was the very day it was lost to Hybrid. His father watched him disappear over the horizon. Apx~TZS Represntative

Lost Brother

By Trinity

As I watched the tide wash across the white sands, my thoughts wandered to how I came to be here. In the beginning there were only the 6 Ancient Dragons. They formed a council to make their mark on the new World of Dwarves. This new world was bright and full of magic. They each set about making a creature to represent them in this new world. They knew they had to work quickly as many other entities were doing the same. They did not wish to rush the process, fearing that a flawed creature would bring them doom. So they each secluded themselves and created their own children to send forth. As there were 6 Dragons, 6 Dragon Magi were formed. I was formed from the world of the dwarves. My Dragon chose elements and nature to create balance. I was taught that good and evil were relative. You could not have one without the other. All things must be balanced however, in order to continue to exist. When one outweighs the other it is harmful to all sides. My balance has been broken as of late. One of my brothers has gone missing. At first we all believed he was merely in disguise as was his usual routine. He could blend into almost anything. But as the weeks went by we noticed that his horde of troops began to wander and become lost. The truth was slowly but sadly revealed as we found that he had ceased to exist.

Our family was devastated. He had been so strong, so vibrant. He was far too young to leave this world so soon. We have searched high and low, we have spoken to what was left of his armies, yet we cannot find the reason for his departure. Without him to guide and lead them, his armies slowly began to follow their master to oblivion. We were sad to see them go, but we could not stop them. After they left, all we found in their place was the dark cloaks of their house, and sparkling dust from the magic that had created them. We gathered the dust and brought it to the edge of the lands, here where the white sands touch the blue-green oceans. Those of us left scattered the dust in the wind and water with the prayer that someday, somewhere, our lost brother will return to us.

Now as I stand here, looking at my family, and the many tear stained faces, we all hear the low mournful cry of the Ancient Dragon of Disguise. As the cry ended, we knew that we were not the only ones who had lost. For at the moment the Dragon of Disguise fell quiet, the other 5 began to wail in agony. The Dragon of Disguise was no more. In his place, where he stood, was but a single egg. The other 5 dragons gathered up the egg and took it with them. Maybe, in our future, when the egg hatches it will bring again a Great Dragon, and a new member of our family. For now, we say goodbye my friend, my brother…. Master Putchuco.
